We demystify our fees to provide you with a clear insight into the costs and services you'll receive, ensuring transparency at every stage.
Initial consultation
At this first “getting to know you” meeting, we’ll discuss your objectives and current financial position to see if we can help. This meeting is held at our expense.
We explain how our charges work and what we can do to make sure you fully understand our approach before you incur any charges.
Initial charges
Our charge for creating a comprehensive financial plan is subject to our hourly rates, with a minimum charge of £1,000 and a maximum charge of £5,000 depending on complexity. We will always present you with a personalised quote before undertaking any work that might be charged for.
We do not charge for the implementation of any arrangements put in place because of our financial plan, and there is no obligation to move onto one of our ongoing service levels. Our fees are VAT exempt unless the work we provide only involves advice or preparing a report, in which case VAT may be applicable. We will always tell you before we undertake any work.
What’s included in the initial charges?
- Understanding your financial situation, what’s important to you and how comfortable you are with risk
- Researching your existing solutions and creating an outline strategy for further discussion
- Cashflow modelling to demonstrate you are able to meet your objectives
- Providing and presenting you with a written financial plan
- Putting your plan into place
- Handling all administration
Ongoing service
We can offer you two levels of ongoing service, each designed to provide periodic suitability reviews to ensure that recommended products remain relevant to your circumstances.
Level 1
This is our core service, designed for those with more complex financial planning needs. This service level applies only to portfolios of more than £400,000 and to those prepared to pay a minimum annual fee of £3,000.
This service includes:
- Annual suitability review
- Interim meetings
- Estate planning analysis
- Cashflow forecasting
- Tax pack provided by us to you or your accountant
- Monthly newsletter
- Online access to view your personal portfolio information.
- Bi-annual full portfolio valuation
Level 2
This is our entry-level financial planning service designed to meet the needs of those with less complex financial requirements who do not yet need the Sylvan Core Service.
It is aimed at people who may be starting out on their financial planning journey and whose needs will likely transition onto the Sylvan Core Service over time. The service has been designed for the children of existing clients, early-career
professionals and entrepreneurs.
The minimum annual charge would be £2,250 per year for portfolios of less than £300,000.
This service includes:
- Annual suitability review at our office or online
- Full portfolio valuation provided at the suitability review
- Tax pack provided by us to you or your accountant
- Monthly newsletter
- Online access to view your personal portfolio information.
We use a tiered charging structure for our ongoing charges based on a percentage of funds under advice. These charges are applied as follows:
As an example, if you have £3 million under advice, the first £1 million would incur a fee of 0.75%, the following £1 million would incur a fee of 0.6% and the final £1 million would incur a fee of 0.2%, equating to a total of £15,500 per year.
